Capital Cheap Eats from Flyer Talk

17 04 2007

Socaflyer recommends:

Burrito Brothers (Capitol Hill and Union Station) Naan & Beyond (for their Tandoori 1/2 Chicken)

While Armybrat suggests:

Amsterdam Felafel and Frites on

18th Street, NW

in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. The best frites you have tasted (make sure and ask for them extra crispy) and a great felafel with 20 different kinds of salad-toppings. The half felafel ($4.50) is a meal in itself, but add a small frites and although you’ll be close to $9 by doing so, you’ll also be close to nirvana!

Ethnic DC Eats

31 12 2006

A few days ago I was lamenting the poor quality of Mexican food in Hampton Roads, Virginia. Well, Ziv commented about a restaurant called El Charrito Caminante in Arlington, Virginia. Ziv linked to Tyler Coswen’s Ethnic Dining Guide. The very nature of ethnic restaurants make them a great place to find cheap eats. Especially when they are outside of the trendy areas and are off most other people’s radar.

Tyler seems to have amassed an impressive collection of all types of ethnic, even the more common like Italian. It covers all price ranges so a little digging is needed but it could be a great resource.
