5 Steps for Finding A “Dave’s Cheap Eats” Restaurant

26 01 2007

In my last post I shared with you the top 5 ways to eat cheap. Today I will share with you the top five ways to find a Dave’s Cheap Eats restaurant. Below, you will find all you need to know about finding good, cheap restaurants!

  1.  Fast Food: Avoid it! It’s not that cheap or tasty.
  2. Think Local: Find restaurants that feature local menu items: locals know how to make the food better than others, its going to be fresher, it’s cheaper because the ingredients are grown locally, and it might be something you can’t find in other parts of the country
  3. Research.Besides Dave’s Cheap Eats, there are lots of online guides highlighting local restaurants. Guide books usually list a couple restaurants under a “Cheap Eats” or “$” or cent sign (I can’t figure out how to make that on my computer!). Finally, local foodie publications will often highlight some budget options that have great food.
  4. Ask: Don’t ask the concierge, who will point you to the high end restaurants. Instead ask a front desk workers at your hotel and or a local gas station attendant. They can be a wealth of cheap eats information.
  5. Follow the non-well dressed crowd. Don’t be afraid of a dingy looking place with lots of cars outside. If there are lots of cars, no matter how bad it looks like from the outside, you’ve probably found a great cheap eats site.
